I need a little creative input...

I've been mucking around with my fabric and ribbon scraps and have made something that I love! I saw one first at a good friend's house and decided to give them a go myself. What do you think of these little hair clip boards?

I'm sorry about the quality of the photos. I really, really need a new camera! I'm thinking of making some more and selling them. Do you think they would be something you would buy for a little girl? I think they are gorgeous and ever so practical. You can't see from the pictures, but I have attached a little hook at the back so they can be hung on the wall. I'm still nutting out a cost and trying to figure out what ribbons are best to use etc, but I'm thinking they could sell for around $10 to $12? Perhaps $10 without clips and $12 with? Would you spend that on a handmade gift, or am I short changing myself or over charging? Hmmm... lots of food for thought.

These three already have homes with some special little girls, but I'd love to make some more.

I'd really appreciate your feedback! What do you think?

  1. best to advertise one see how it goes and check the response you get, you never know they could be a winner and they are in fact a great idea

  2. Beck, it's Kel. I think they are awesome personally, as the Ariel box Charlie's clips are in right now is falling apart and I can never find the clips I want. I would definately buy one for $12. The hanging on the wall part is the best feature, they are very pretty too though.

  3. Hi Beck, Shan here, I think they would sell really well. $12 seems fine too. Even if some were done in colours that might suit people other than little girls (bathrooms, dressing tables for women etc) because I can never find and bobby pins or clips when I want them! Also, just thought, if a bit of ribbon could lift up, with a snap or something, then hair elastics could go around them too?

  4. I think $12 is about right, but it depends on the types of clips you use. Some of the clips you can buy are so dear now it's dreadful.

I think there is a stall at the Strand Night Markets in Townsville that sell something like this. It's on once a month in the dry season, and I think the next one is next Friday. If I go I'll double check and let you know what their prices are.

Now you've given me something else to add to my list of 'things to make'!
